A few weeks ago I was invited to shoot Paul Lewis for the BBC Proms. They are using the pictures for a feature in the BBC Proms Guide 2010 and for press. The pictures were not allowed to be seen until publication of the guide yesterday (22/4/2010)

They were shot during a break in an album recording session. Paul is recording all the Beethoven Piano Concertos for Harmonia Mundi. On this day, 8th March 2010, he was recording the 4th Concerto.

Paul was very relaxed and was willing to do whatever it took to help me get the shots.
A few times he was playing passages from the 4th Beethoven Piano Concerto I became mesmerised by his hand work and I totally forgot to click the camera.


The pictures were lit with 3 Multiblitz Profilux 400 lights (very versatile workhorses) 2 from the left one high above the piano and one on the side of Pauls face and the other down low behind Paul. The pictures appear on pages 40 and 41 of the BBC Proms Guide 2010

My web site has being undergoing some changes. I can now upload larger and sharper pictures, colour, style and text is easier to change and the slideshows look fantastic.

I am now on My Space.
This is a fun area to display some photographs and to give you an idea of what I am about. Great surfing especially for music and musicians. It is simple to set up and you can add friends that you know and some you do not. Barack Obama is now a friend of mine.

Event Photography

ProAm Golf Tournament

Last year we covered events for the PGA (Professional Golfers Association), BBC Proms, School Concerts and Birthday Parties. This year we have photographed the Wisley Festival, Womad and more BBC events. If you would like me to cover your event please get in touch through the contact page or sjpphotography@btinternet.com


Golf Events, Concerts, School Photos and Education Projects etc are all agreed as a bespoke package and are negotiated on an individual basis. You can request one photographer, add a second photographer or for large corporate events have three photographers. The cost of each extra photographer is negotiated as part of the bespoke package.

Simon Jay Price Photography is based on the Surrey and Kent borders can offer small studio sessions for up to 4 people and location shoots. Included in the price is one 9x6 print and a DVD with all the images on that you can print up to 4x6 size.

On the 26th June I worked with the BBC on their Out & About project. This involves taking the music and musicians from the BBC SO to the masses. In past years I have photographed
them in action in Brighton & Reading. This year the city was London, in fact 20 venues in and around London. These included the British Museum, Spitalfields Market, Covent Garden, Heathrow Terminal 5 and Marks & Spencer.

The story on the BBC website is here and so are some of the pictures. Because it was a big project it required two photogs, I shared the shoot with Tim Anderson.
